Add A Country-Themed Border, Curtains, And Accessories To Your Kitchen

Posted on: 19 October 2017

If your kitchen has light-colored cabinetry and furnishings in it and you would like to enhance these items by adding country-themed decor to the room, install a fabric wallpaper border around the top of each wall and hang curtains over the windows that match. Afterward, add some basic accessories that complement the new additions, such as farm animal-shaped salt and pepper shakers, a pitcher or vase that has a barn picture displayed on it or any other type of country-themed decoration that you like.

  • pre-pasted fabric wallpaper border
  • scissors
  • sponge
  • warm water
  • paint roller
  • frame

Clean The Top Of Each Wall Before Securing A Fabric-Covered Border

While standing on a step ladder, use a duster to remove cobwebs and dust from the top of each wall. Spray an all-purpose cleaning agent lightly across the top of each wall. Use a soft cloth to wipe the portion of each wall that was sprayed. Use a lint-free towel to dry the walls. After measuring the length of each wall, you need to decide upon a wallpaper style that you prefer. You can acquire samples of fabric-covered paper from a retailer.

After receiving samples, bring them home and look them over before deciding upon one style to purchase. Pre-pasted paper has dry adhesive on the backside of it. This type of adhesive is activated once it is moistened with water. After purchasing a roll of paper, unroll it across your kitchen table and use scissors to cut a piece of paper for the top of each wall. Turn one of the pieces over so that the fabric is facing the table's surface.

Use a damp sponge to apply water to the adhesive. After moistening the adhesive, hold the edges of the paper and climb onto the step ladder. Line the paper along the top of one of the walls. After pressing the adhesive against the wall, move a paint roller across the paper to remove creases in the fabric side of it. Moisten the backside of the other pieces of paper and secure one of them to the top of each remaining wall.

Hang Curtains And Add Accessories To The Room

Stop by a window covering store to purchase curtains that have a country-themed pattern that is similar to the fabric border. Hang the curtains from rods before securing the rods over kitchen windows. Add country-themed accessories to other parts of the room, including counters, the center of the table, and shelves.
